Harpsichord Tuner / Cembalotuner (FREEWARE)

Do you often find yourself without a tuner, when you need one? I did - so I have developed a simple tuner for cell phones. It is useful either when you just want to check your harpsichord or when you want to tune it.

I hope you will find it useful too.

The tuner can play tones using several temperaments and at different pitches.
You can also use the tuner for tuning other instruments and for playing with temperaments.

Features
- Play tones from C-c''' (use up/down and middle button to change/hear tone)
- Choose between a'=392, 409, 415, 440, 442 or 466
- Choose between 9 temperaments (equal, meantone, Werckmeister, Kirnberger, Valotti ...)
- Modify temperaments with 1 cent precision
- Save modified temperaments under a new name
- Choose between different sounds (piano, harpsichord, organ and synthesizer)
- Saves your settings

Compatibility

The software is developed as a standard J2ME/Java application for mobile phones. This means that any J2ME enabled device supporting MIDP 2.0 incl. PitchControl will be able to run the software. Phones made by Sony Ericsson and Motorola generally supports MIDP 2.0, while classic Nokias don't (even though they say it).

Sony Ericsson:
Tested on K610i, W200i, W800i (only equal temp.), W810i.
Designed to work with the following Sony Ericsson cell phones:
Series JP-6: K310, K320, K510, W200, W300, W550, W600, W810, W900, Z530, Z550, Z558.
Series JP-7: K530, K550, K610, K618, K770, K790, K800, K810, K818, S500, T650, T658, V630, W350, W380, W610, W660, W710, W830, W850, W880, W888, Z310, Z555, Z610, Z710.
Series JP-8: C702, C902, C905, G502, G705, K630, K660, K850/K858, T700, TM506, V640, W595, W705, W760, W890/W898, W902, W910/W908, W980, Z750, Z770, Z780.
Please tell me if it works on your Sony Ericsson.

Motorola:
Should work on:
A910, K1, K3, A1200, V8, V9, V3i, V3xx, V6, Z3, E2, E6, E6e, U9, Z6, L7i, L7e, L71, Q9, V1100, U3 (?), L9 (?), L72 (?), W490 (?), W510 (?).
Please tell me if it works with your Motorola.

Nokia:
Series 40: not supported. May work for equal temperament only. Please look up your phone here.
Series 60 or later: should work. Please report if it works on your Series 60 Nokia. Here is a list of S60 phones. Only those of 3rd edition, Feature pack 1 and later are supported.

Samsung: Please look under Nokia Series 60.

Maybe it will work on your cell phone too? (Generally it should be less than 2 years old).

Download (ca. 40Kb) the software to your pc.
Transfer it to your cell phone using either a usb-cable, Bluetooth or infrared connection. Put it somewhere you can remember (maybe the phone does that for you). On the phone press "install" or navigate to the place you put it and press "install". Enjoy.

Please note:
- Turn up the volume.
- If you have chosen the organ or synthesizer, then the tone sounds until you press any other key (other than up/down/choose/2/5/8)
- On some phones only equal temperament and some pitches will be available.

- Splash screen is to big for some screens
- On some screens the text may not fit on the screen

The harpsichord tuner is developed with J2ME using Netbeans.
